A rarity from the Pöckl winery, which is only bottled in good years and only in very small quantities. The vines grow on deep clay soil on Lake Neusiedl.
The wine is vinified in open fermentation vessels, fed only through gravity, with a long maceration to extract the full flavours form the grapes. After fermentation, the wine is aged in new oak barriques.
ANALYSIS
Alcohol: 15.5% volResidual sugar: D
The wine displays complex notes of spicy gingerbread, smokey cedarwood, and fruit notes of figs and dark berries. The palate is powerful and compact, with fine tannins, vibrant acidity, and warming alcohol combining with notes of cassis, blackberries, menthol, and liquorice.
Pairs well with roast meats and grilled steak
