The Rosenberg vineyard is named after the wild roses grown on nearby hillsides, and is surrounded by forest at an elevation of 250m. Markowitsch’s 4.8 hectares of vineyard benefits from these cooling influences. The subsoil is marine sedimentary, with clay, limestone & various types of sand, while the topsoil boasts a thick layer of Danube gravels, some 30–40 cm. The 2019 vintage blend is made of 55% Zweigelt, 30% Merlot, 15% Blaufränkisch.

The uppermost portion is less fertile and more gravelly, giving a perfect location for the Merlot & Blaufränkisch. Farther downhill, the soil becomes deeper with more clay, and Zweigelt gives best results.

Harvesting lasts from the end of September until the start of October, with the grapes harvested by hand in multiple passes. The fermentation is spontaneous and lasts 14-20 days, on the skins, at 30–32°C in wooden vats, followed by malolactic conversion in the barriques. The wine is then aged for 20 months in French oak of various sizes.
